I initially qualified with a Bachelor of Education in Primary school, in Tasmania and worked as a Primary Teacher for many years, in Tasmania, London and Dublin. I then returned to Uni and have now a second degree in Early Childhood teaching. I started my journey with Brighton Baptist Kindergarten in 2019 as the wombat 4 year old teacher. I am a passionate about the early years and I draw on my extensive experience as a primary teacher to ensure the children attending our kindergarten have the both the emotional and developmental skills to succeed from day one at school. As educators, our job is to provide an environment where children feel supported and safe as they develop a love for learning. I have raised 3 children of my own and I draw on my own experiences as a mother to guide my teaching and help children to be the best version of themselves.
Martine Spurrier

Fondly known by everyone as “Miss Martine” I started working at Brighton Baptist Kindergarten in 2009 as the 3yo and 4yo teacher. Initially training in primary education I quickly realised my passion was within early education. I retrained in early education and like Robyn hold a dual degree. With over 15 years of teaching I find the children still teach me something new every day. I am reminded how lucky we are as educators to spend this time with your children nurturing their development. I am a creative soul and enjoy helping children to find what they love at kindergarten and uncover their unique personalities. As a mum of a teenage boy I am reminded every day how special this time is and how quick children grow. Our team value the time spent with your children and make every moment count.

Having recently obtained my Bachelor of Early Childhood Education I also feel privileged to have this opportunity to guide the development of your children. With more than 10 years’ experience I originally commenced my career in early education working as an educator. In 2013 I started with Brighton Baptist Kindergarten as was given the opportunity to lead the 3yo program. It wasn’t long before I realised my heart was in teaching and so began my journey back to university to qualify as a teacher. For many children, 3yo kindergarten is the first time they have been away from their mum. With that in mind, my job is to ensure all children feel safe and secure as they experience this first taste of lifelong learning. We giggle, we sing and we get really messy ! Memories are created and friends are made…. It’s all in a day’s work at 3 year kindergarten …. How could anyone not love this job!

I began working at Brighton Baptist Kindergarten in 2018. With more than 20 years of Early Childhood experience there is not a day that goes by that I am not fascinated by a child’s innocent and carefree approach to life and learning. Children remind me how precious and uncomplicated life can be and with that in mind I use this to guide their learning. With a smile, I welcome everyone at the door, building the important relationships with family’s as I work in partnership to meet the needs of every child. I believe that building respectful and warm relationships with families creates a sense of belonging. Watching children grown and develop throughout the year provides me with so much joy and a sense of satisfaction as they leave kindergarten happy confident little learners.
Heather Forster
Heather Forster Sports coach 4YO Group
Fondly known by all the children as ‘Sports Heather’s I am never too far away from the outdoor area with a ball or bat in my hand. I love everything active and I use my own passion for sport to foster a child’s love of movement by giving them opportunities to succeed at all things active. Whether it be music, games or obstacle courses I encourage children to get active, try new games and build their social skills. I play with the children in an effort to develop their coordination and sense of self. I am fortunate to have been given the opportunity to teach this highly valued perceptual motor program at Brighton Baptist Kindergarten since 2003.

What Parents Say

“Children see magic because they look for it. This kindergarten helps provide that for them!”

“They don’t handicap your children by making it easy. They strive to help them for themselves”
